Who we are

An independent, not-for-profit organisation showing Latin American and Spanish films in Melbourne and parts of Regional Victoria. In Melbourne Filmoteca, we celebrate and share the language, culture and politics of the incredibly diverse communities from the Spanish and Portuguese speaking world.

What we do

Established in 1999, Melbourne Filmoteca is a volunteer-driven, non-profit organisation hosting monthly screenings of Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American films. It fosters cultural exchange, uniting diverse audiences to celebrate cinema, language, music, and heritage. With a foundation in the late 90s, it offers captivating exhibitions that bridge gaps, nurturing cross-cultural understanding. Through volunteer dedication, Melbourne Filmoteca enriches Melbourne’s cultural landscape, embracing authenticity and fostering appreciation for the artistic contributions of these regions.
